Poco is an American
Country Rock band formed by Richie Furay and Jim
Messina in 1969. Buffalo Springfield, Furay and Messina's original band, broke up in 1968, causing them to endeavor to form a new band...a new style - Poco. Poco's
original line-up consisted of Furay on rhythm guitar and vocals, Messina
on lead guitar and vocals, Rusty Young (above left) on pedal steel guitar, banjo, dobro, guitar, and vocals, George Grantham on drums and vocals, and Randy Meisner
on bass and vocals. Paul Cotton (above right) joined in 1971 after Messina left the band. It wasn't until
1978 that Poco realized their greatest commercial success. The writing talents of both Young
and Cotton yielded a gold album and two Top Twenty hits: Young's "Crazy Love" and Cotton's
"Heart of the Night."
